Transient States Just like the Deptford creek meanders towards the river Thames and provided prosperity to businesses, mills and ship yards on either side of the creek for many centuries, now the Dockland Light Rail follwos the same route and brings promise of prosperity once again. A lone crane is the only survivor of an industrious past. Students of the Laban Centre now dance where shipbuilders once laboured away. The old wharf making place for new apartment blocks, segregating office workers from the local community, slowly succumbing to the pressure of economic change.
