Describe Stepney Green here.
I used to go through Stepney Green everyday on the tube, but never actually got off there. I'd also never been to Stepney itself (apart from Genesis Cinema), so I thought going to take photos was as good an excuse as any to visit.
CNV00017This picture in a shop window amused me. Not just the picture - the choice of words is odd too. Surely development is pretty much the antithesis of replacement - no?
CNV00018Above is a community mosaic mural, which I think is very important for regeneration as they seem to be everywhere these days. Below is a lion which is a part of it
CNV00023The car above is, as you can see, a completely burnt out wreck. The council have still put a poster on it asking for its owner to claim it though. I wonder if it's still there (took the photo back in March 2005)
CNV00020Stepney church. Seems very out of place in a slightly scummy bit of the East E.nd
CNV00024I'm Welsh, so imagine my delight when I found a sheep just down the road from where I live!
CNV00019A happy giant horse (compare with size of ducks!) who likes board games (I think that's why he's happy). For some reason the girl on the blackboard is sad.
